FALLS CHURCH, VA – May 3, 2016 – Inova Sports Medicine will host the first annual Capital City Sports Medicine Summit this week, May 5-6, at Nationals Park in Washington, DC. The summit is a Continuing Medical Education (CME) opportunity for orthopedic surgeons, primary care sports medicine physicians, physical therapists, trainers and other health care professionals who treat athletes.
Led by Robin West, MD, the two-day, highly interactive course will feature regionally and nationally acclaimed sports medicine specialists and will focus on providing the latest, evidence-based approach to the challenges facing medical providers when determining return to play guidelines for injured, in-season athletes. Topics will range from concussion management and injury prevention, to traumatic and overuse injuries.
“The management of in-season injuries can be a difficult issue that sports medicine providers have to deal with on a year-round basis,” said Robin West, MD, Orthopaedic Surgeon and Medical Director, Inova Sports Medicine Institute and Lead Team Physician for the Washington Nationals. “This Summit is designed to provide sports medicine professionals with the knowledge and tools to best identify, evaluate, manage and prevent injuries.”
