Inova Health System Acquires Mid Atlantic Urogynecology and Pelvic Surgery

Expansion Enhances Regional Access to World-Class Women’s Care

Falls Church, VA – Inova Health System announced the acquisition of Mid Atlantic Urogynecology and Pelvic Surgery.  As the leading urogynecologic practice in the region, it consists of four board-certified urogynecologists and an advanced practice provider. The providers have been seeing patients at its current location for more than 25 years.

“The addition of our colleagues from Mid-Atlantic Urogynecology and Pelvic Surgery will enable Inova to expand our subspecialty educational fellowship in urogynecology, increase our research programs in pelvic health, and deploy a pelvic health program inclusive of urogynecology, colorectal surgery and pelvic physical therapy and behavioral services,” said Larry Maxwell, MD, President, Inova Women’s Services. “The team’s 130 years of collective experience treating women’s urogynecologic conditions is unrivaled anywhere in our region and we are excited to have them join the Inova team.”

Care at the new practice, Inova Urogynecology – Annandale, will be provided by Nicolette Horbach, MD; Jeff Welgoss, MD; Donna Mazloomdoost, MD; and, Michelle Downie, NP-C.  They will continue to provide diagnostic, surgical and non-surgical treatment options for women’s pelvic floor conditions at their Annandale location, Inova Women’s Hospital as well as other Inova hospitals.

“Becoming fully integrated team members at Inova will streamline our patients’ overall experience and we will continue to provide seamless care from our clinic to the women’s surgery center and other ancillary services our patients need, including pelvic floor therapy and behaviorial health,” said Dr. Jeff Welgoss, System Section Chief Urogynecology at Inova. “We are excited to extend our partnership with Inova to serve women with urogynecologic needs in our community and surrounding region.”
