Inclement weather updates due to winter storm from January 5-7, 2025

• I have a Colonoscopy scheduled for Monday January 6th in the morning at Fair Oaks Hospital.

  I am supposed to take the preparations starting today, Saturday Jan.4th. Should I take the preparation, or should I hold off on taking it. At present I am thinking that I will start the preparation today unless I hear otherwise from Inova Staff.

  • At this time there has been no impact to outpatient surgical exams or procedures. Physicians and Inova team members have been planning due to forecasted inclement weather, so unless your doctor's office contacts you then the procedure or exam remains as scheduled. We recommend contacting your physician's office if you have further questions just in case.

    • You response is uncaring and not good enough. A decision needs to be made prior to the prep procedures for any out patient surgeries. No physician's office is open on Sunday! The weather decision should be made at least 24hrs out if their is prep involved and posted on line or communicated in person to the patient. It is uncaring that you think that patients are going to travel in this weather, which by all reports is going to be extremely hazardous, is putting patients at risk. Patients need to have the right to make the decision on whether to travel since some are elderly or do not live close so there should by no threat of paying a fee for choosing not to travel in hazardous condition.

      • We understand your concern and appreciate your feedback. The decision about surgical procedures and exams are decided by surgeons and their patients. We recommend patients contact their physician's office and request to contact them through their call service, which are available after-hours and on the weekend, if they have questions or concerns.

• Will Inova Vascular Outpatient appointments be changed to virtual appointments on Jan 6th or rescheduled for another day?

  • At this time, Inova Vascular outpatient offices will be opening at 10 a.m. Our team members will be reaching out to assist patients that have an in-person appointment scheduled before this time to reschedule your appointment. If they decide to further delay opening or close the office, we will post and update and they will reach out to patients to assist patients to schedule a virtual appointment if eligible or reschedule their appointment.

    Inova Vascular – Alexandria will open at 10 a.m.
    Inova Vascular – Fairfax will open at 10 a.m.
    Inova Vascular – Loudoun will open at 10 a.m.
    Inova Vascular – Manassas will open at 10 a.m.

• I have bariatric surgery tomorrow at 7am and suppose to be there at 530 am, do you think they will cancel it?

  • We understand your concern, the surgical services in the hospital and surgery centers will be open regular hours. Please reach out to your doctor’s office and request to contact them through their call services, which is available after-hours and on the weekends with your concerns and questions.

• So am due to arrive at Loudoun at 6:30am. Am scheduled for surgery but now it says the center will open at 10am!!!
  Not sure what is going on here! I've tried calling repeatedly and left messages, and also filled the form here! This is a bit frustrating and absurd.... you state that patients with earlier appointments would be contacted, but no one has contacted me. Am sure you're aware of what is going on with the weather and snow....
  So what am I supposed to do here? Be up at 5 Am and drive through all this snow not knowing if my surgery is still on or not? I mean what is the priority here? People, including your staff, safety or what exactly?

We are sorry to cause confusion, outpatient surgery offices have a delayed opening, but the surgery centers will be open regular hours. • What time will Mammography at INOVA Fairfax East Schar Cancer Institute open on Tuesday, January 7, 2025?

• Will inova Mark Center MRI be open Tuesday, January 7?

  • Inova Imaging Centers and FRC Imaging Centers are open today with no delayed openings.

• I have an afternoon appointment at inova Wound Care on Woodburn Road today, January 7. I’m only getting their voicemail, with no response. I don’t see anything in the inclement weather literature that addresses this facility. Advice?

  • We apologize that you are having difficulty reaching the Inova Wound Care team. All Wound Care locations opened at 10 a.m. We will share your message to make them aware that there may issues with phone systm.

• I see no opening times or advisory for Arlington Cardiology. Please advise.

  • All Inova outpatient offices will be opening on time this morning, Wednesday, January 8, 2025. There are no delayed openings. Thank you for reaching out to ask!
